A part of having a vehicle is dealing with and addressing manufacturer recalls. This is something we actively monitor, as do the marketplaces that your vehicles are listed on. Additionally, federal law prohibits vehicles from being rented out to consumers with open safety recalls. As such, your vehicle may become unavailable to rent out from time-to-time due to this.
Raechel and Jacqueline Houch Safe Rental Car Act of 2015
In 2015 Congress passed legislation disallowing vehicles from being rented with open safety recalls. That legislation can be found here: S.1173 - Raechel and Jacqueline Houck Safe Rental Car Act of 2015.
Due to this legislation and for the safety of all guests that we serve, Hassle-Free Car reserves the right to delist a vehicle and make it unavailable for rent until the safety recall is addressed by the manufacturer. At that point that a safety recall becomes known to us, we will quickly contact a nearby dealership to schedule the vehicle for service and facilitate having the vehicle recall addressed.
Recalls with No Remedy
If your vehicle has an open safety recall that doesn't currently have a remedy available by the manufacturer, your car may be unavailable for rent until it becomes available. If this happens to your vehicle, you may request to pull your vehicle from management and come pick up the vehicle. We will then disable your vehicle and not renew management in the next month. We will waive the 30 day cancellation notice requirement, however we will not refund any monthly management that has already been paid.
