Automatic Mileage Discounts
There are situations when guests may want a discount on their miles because they feel they're too high or for some other reason. Additionally, regardless of your feelings regarding your mile overage price, and even if it's already a very fair price, not providing some type of discount can significantly affect your guest's experience and thus your ratings over time. We've found that providing discounts on miles in good faith when requested by renters will create a much better experience for your guest and not conceding at all on mileage will almost certainly leave you with a less than stelar review.
To maximize our ability to provide good customer service, we've implemented a way for you to pre-authorize us to provide discounts on mileage if it's needed on a specific trip. If you'd like to enable this on any of your vehicles, let us know by contacting our helpdesk. We recommend a discount of anywhere from 25%-50%.
Mile Overage Forgiveness
We have a feature available to all owners whereby a buffer can be created before we request mileage fees from a renter. Often times if a renter goes over by just a few miles, it's best to just let those go and leave the renter with a great experience. This can be set by request of the owner and can be customized for each car. This can be applied to all vehicles in which Hassle-Free Car is submitting the reimbursement requests for mile overage.
As an example, let's say a car is set to provide 15 miles of forgiveness. If a renter goes over their allowed miles by 15 miles, we will not submit a reimbursement request for those miles. However, if the renter goes over by 16, we will request reimbursement for all 16 miles.
To set this up for your car, simply contact our support team and we can add it for you. Note that this will only apply to trips with Turo at this time. Getaround requests mile overage through their system, so we can not able to apply any customization to that.
Mileage Claim Already Created
Applying a discount WILL NOT retroactively affect mileage claims that have already been created. If you're applying a discount after a mileage claim has already been created, you will need to manually modify the existing claim and re-submit the reimbursement request on the marketplace directly.
